MODIFICATIONS, CONVERSIONS, HISTORY
(2007)
I bought the car almost in 07 from a guy who did it up about ten years or so previously. It was pretty rough but had a fair bit done to it. It came with koni adjustable shocks and sports springs, stag front struts and brakes, 15″ minilites, bosch fuel pump, balanced engine with tr5 cam, re-trimed interior, mk2 trailing arms AND the all important datsun rear axle conversion. Since having it i have had the metering unit & injectors reco’d (it leaked more fuel than it used), changed back to manual steering, fitted superpro polyurethane bushes all round and swapped the faulty A type overdrive ‘box for a J type one.
Future plans include lowering and stiffening the suspension including re-cambering the rear end, stiff sway bars, etc, before doing anything to the engine. An lsd would also be high on the wish list. As for the body work, there is a bit of rust and a fair few little dints to take care of but ill worry about perfection when i have my own place to work on it.

(now)
I have now got it on the road and used it as my wife and my wedding car. I re did all the wiring (butchered by previous owner!), got the engine progressively running better and gave it a full respray. I did heaps more to it but cant really remember now- it took ages so it must have been lots! After a mad year or so of work on it to get it ready for the wedding I was so sick of it I put it under a cover in my Dad’s shed and only recently got it back out.
Since getting it back on the road I have put a new bosch fuel pump and a powerspark electronic distributor in it, both really transforming the car- it almost runs like a modern now! I also fixed a bad oil leak from the push rod side of the head gasket by re-torqueing the head nuts, some were quite loose! I have lowered it heaps by cutting the springs. This makes it look great but it now rides on the bump stops in the front and has heaps too much negative camber in the rear. I know how to fix both but just need to get around to it!
Future plans include fixing the suspension geometry, proper exhaust system, and maybe power steering.
